How do I manually update the firmware on an Oudie?
Upgrading the firmware on the Oudie is as simple as 1,2,3:
- Downloading this file
- Saving that file in the root of your Oudie’s Resident Flash memory
- Rebooting the Oudie
Download the latest update file UpdateOudie.exe to your PC this link: http://download.naviter.com/oudie_all/UpdateOudie.exe
Note: the .exe can be installed on any version of the Oudie as the .exe will recognize the version you have and install correctly.
Ensure the file is correctly named as “UpdateOudie.exe”. when saved on your computer. (See “Common problems” below.)
Connect your Oudie with PC using the USB cable supplied.
Note: Not all USB cables are the same and using the one supplied will prevent a common issue.
You should now see Oudie as an external Mass Storage drive on your PC (named TFAT). Copy UpdateOudie.exe to the root of your Oudie drive (TFAT). (Note: You can also save directly to Oudie if it is connected during the download and used as your chosen file location.)
Reset Oudie or press and hold the On/Off key for 1 second and select “Power off”. Then power it back on by holding the button for another second.
Wait until it boots into an Update dialog box. Press “Update” and wait until the update process is finished.
Reboot the Oudie one more time to complete the update.
Resolution: Oudie is in Active Sync mode rather than Mass Storage mode.
To enable Mass Storage mode, turn the Oudie on, then exit SeeYou Mobile.
Find this option via: Menu > Next > Exit.
Once you are on the black main screen press “>>” button in the upper right corner, then select “USB”.
Make sure “Mass Storage” is enabled and press the “Save” icon. Intentionally we are not posting instructions how to use Oudie in Active Sync mode. If you want to use it in Active Sync mode fine, but you have to know what you are doing.
File name when copied to Oudie must be exactly “UpdateOudie.exe”.
Windows or browsers sometimes add “(1)”, “(2)” or similar making the filename “UpdateOudie (1).exe”. A differently named file will no longer work on Oudie and if your browser/windows changes the name during the download process you must first manually rename it to “UpdateOudie.exe”.
