What is flight recording in SeeYou Navigator

Flight recording in SeeYou Navigator on Oudie N and Omni is fully automatic.

Flight recording is a feature that automatically tracks and saves your flight path as a digital file. Every time you fly, SeeYou Navigator creates a record of your flight in IGC format, an international standard used by pilots worldwide. This record includes your flight path, altitude, time, and other flight statistics.

How It Works

Flight recording uses your device’s GPS to track your position throughout the flight. The app monitors your movement and altitude to automatically detect when you take off and when you land.

During your flight, the app records:

• Your GPS position (latitude and longitude)
• Altitude above sea level
• Time stamps for every position
• Flight statistics like maximum altitude, average speed, and flight duration

All this data is saved to a file that you can view in your Logbook, share with friends, or upload to online flight tracking platforms.

How to use flight recording

Before your first flight

Make sure you’ve granted SeeYou Navigator permission to access your location. The app needs this to track your flight:

• On iOS: Go to Settings > SeeYou Navigator > Location and select Always, also allow Precise Location

• On Android: Grant location permission when prompted
• On Oudie N and Omni the application does not require special permissions to operate.

Starting a Flight

Flight recording happens automatically, no buttons to press! The app detects when you take off and starts recording your flight. You will see the banner (it is just to inform you or to allow you to cancel recording if you do not want to).

You’ll see a red button on the left top confirming that recording has started.

If you want to start recording manually (for example, during a hike and fly), tap the H&F button on the left top corner.

Hike & Fly mode will turn on the IGC logger permanently so you can record complete tracks, hiking and flying altogether.

In the Glider mode you CAN NOT start recording manually.

During Your Flight

Once recording is active, you can fly normally. The app works in the background and continues recording even if your screen is off. Your flight path, altitude changes, and other data are being saved continuously.

After Landing

When you land, the app automatically detects this and stops recording in couple minutes. You can also stop recording manually taping on the bunner.

Your flight is saved and will immediately appear in your Logbook.

Flight recording is designed to be effortless. Just open SeeYou Navigator, go fly, and the app takes care of the rest.

Stop and minimize the app

If necessary, you can minimize the app. It will continue to run in the background while you use other apps. On phones, use the standard methods to minimize the app; on Oudie N and Omni, use the Minimize button.

After completing your flight, if you used SeeYou Navigator on your phone, stop the app so that it no longer recognizes takeoffs (for example, if you are traveling by car) and does not record your track when it is not needed. To stop, use the Sleep button on the main screen.
