Cross-country (XC) task

Flying a declared cross-country task is one of the most rewarding ways to improve your flying skills. SeeYou Navigator will help you complete your goal seamlessly.

Declare the task before takeoff

It is essential to declare a task before takeoff. Only tasks declared before takeoff are stored in the Task Declaration section of the IGC file.

There are several ways to enter a task in SeeYou Navigator before takeoff:

  • Enter waypoints manually
  • Load task from a Collection
  • Scan a QR code
  • Load from Soaring Spot

You can quickly access any of these options by selecting Task from the main menu:

Starting the task after release

When a task is declared, SeeYou Navigator will automatically navigate to the start point after takeoff.

When you fly over the start line or sector in the correct direction, a notification will appear at the top of the screen. If you press the “Start now” button, the navigation point will change to the first turnpoint on task. Everything else is automatic and you won’t have to touch the screen again during the flight if you just continue to navigate around the task.

To re-start a task, simply navigate back to the start point. Tap on the Target navbox to bring up the list of points or go to Menu > Task > tap on the start point and select “Goto”.

Once you have started the task successfully, navigation around the task is automatic. You won’t have to touch the Navigator screen at any time during the task if you just proceed through turnpoitns to the finish line.

To change a navigation point (to navigate to a landable field for example), simply tap on the Target navbox or select Menu > Target from the main menu.

To resume navigating on task, select Menu > Target > Resume task at any time during the flight.

Useful navboxes for navigating around the task:
. Target name
. Distance to target
. “To” navbox

Finishing the task

There is no need to interact with SeeYou Navigator to finish the task successfully.

SeeYou Navigator will give you a notification when the final glide altitude is reached for the first time.

Once you cross the finish, a “success” sound is played and basic task statistics is presented in the notification panel.

Useful navboxes for the final glide task:
. Task arrival altitude
. Task required L/D
. Current L/D

After landing

After landing, you can check your statistics in Menu > Logbook and share the flight to OLC or email it to anyone you like. SeeYou Navigator makes it easy to do all of this when your phone or Oudie N is connected to the internet.

Typical tasks you will do after landing

  • Open flight in SeeYou Cloud
  • Claim flight to your favorite online contest
