Live wind

Live Wind display real-time wind data directly on the moving map. The feature uses information from connected weather stations to show current wind direction and speed, helping pilots make better in-flight and pre-flight decisions.

Overview

SeeYou Navigator receives live wind data from multiple weather stations through the Live Weather network. Wind indicators appear as arrows on the map — each arrow points in the direction the wind is blowing and displays both average and gust speed values.

For example, an indicator showing 12/15 means an average wind speed of 12 knots with gusts up to 15 knots.

Benefits

  • Safer landing: view up-to-date wind conditions at airfields and landing zones
  • Better route planning: choose tailwind routes and avoid strong headwinds
  • Real-time updates: all wind readings refresh automatically
  • Local accuracy: combines multiple weather sources for reliable ground-level data

How to enable live wind

  1. Open the Layers panel (map layers icon)
  2. Find the option Live Wind
  3. Activate the toggle next to it
  4. Wind arrows will appear on the map showing direction and speed

How it works

Live wind data are streamed directly from supported weather stations. Each station reports its latest wind measurements, including direction, average speed, and gusts, which are displayed immediately on the SeeYou Navigator map.

How to change wind units

Go to Settings > System > Units > Custom Units and select the wind speed unit you prefer.

Troubleshooting

  • No wind data visible: check your internet connection and make sure Live Wind is enabled in the Layers panel
  • No stations near you: your region might not yet have any connected weather stations
  • Slow update: wind readings refresh every few minutes depending on the station network

Tips for best results

  • Keep internet access active during flight or planning
  • Zoom in on the map to see station details and readings clearly
  • Combine Live Wind with Live Weather layers for a complete overview of conditions

Contribute a station

If you know a reliable wind data source in your region, let Naviter know. The more stations supported, the richer and more accurate the live wind coverage becomes.
