Base map & Layers

SeeYou Navigator comes with predefined high-definition base map layers. Different map colors have different use. Some work better in the mountains, some in flat areas, others give a different context that is helpful for your route selection.

Layers display data on top of the base map. That can be weather, thermals, live tracking, airports, webcams etc.

You can control which maps and layers are visible by taping the Settings button at the top right corner or through Menu > Settings > Map & Layers > Base map / Layers.

Note: To integrate weather forecasts and Live Satellite images from TopMeteo or SkySight you need an active subscription from them. This subscription is not part of the SeeYou Subscription. It needs to be purchased separately from them.

Base map

To choose the best map type for you, open the Layers panel. You can choose from four map types that serve four different needs:

Light map is useful when you need strong contrast on your screen in the bright sunlight. You know the terrain, you just need the rivers, lakes, roads and railways to help with navigation. This map is also best for displaying weather layers because the colors won’t mix with the underlaying map style:

Terrain map is best for showing terrain with the highest possible contrast. This map scheme has great level of detail. It makes it easy to see the smallest valleys clearly.

Outdoor map shows topography in great detail. It is great for use in flat wooded areas as well as mountaneous terrain where the level of contrast provieded by the Terrain map is not required.

Satellite map has the ultimate level of detail. It complements the Outdoor map when you find yourself in an unfamiliar area and are looking for visual clues in the nature.

Layers

You can control which layers are visible by taping the Settings button at the top right corner of the Layers section or through Menu > Settings > Map & Layers > Layers.

There are various groups of map and layers:

  • Base maps (None, Light, Terrain, Outdoor, Satellite)
  • SeeYou Database (Airspace, Airports, Paragliding take-offs and landings)
  • Live tracking (Open Glider Network, Fanet, Flarm)
  • Rainviewer (Rain, Infrared)
  • Skysight (Satellite, Wind, PFD, Thermal tops, Convergence, Waves)
  • TopMeteo (Satellite, Wind, PFD, Thermal tops)
