Offline data

SeeYou Navigator is a modern aviation navigation app providing pilots with a wide range of features for safe and efficient flight planning and execution. One of its key capabilities is offline maps both for phones and for Oudie N and Omni, allowing full navigation even without an internet connection.

What are offline maps and why you need them

Offline maps are pre-downloaded cartographic data stored on your device and accessible without internet. They include not only base maps but also essential data for flights.

Types of offline data

  • Base Maps: Vector maps with high-quality terrain, elevations, contour lines, land cover, roads, trails, and landmarks.
  • Airspace: Restricted zones, controlled airspace, and special zones; daily updates included.
  • Obstacles: Artificial and natural obstacles with precise location and height.
  • Weather: Downloadable forecast data (wind, temperature, clouds, precipitation); supports multiple sources and scheduled updates.

Downloading offline maps

Open SeeYou Navigator > Settings > Offline Data

  • Select Regions on the interactive map
  • Blue: downloaded, Gray: available for download
  • Tap regions to select or deselect, tap Select Regions to start Download or Delete
  • Monitor storage: used, free, size of selected regions
  • Confirm selection: synchronization starts automatically

Tip: Use Wi-Fi to avoid mobile data usage.

Updating offline data

  • Airspace, obstacles and weather update daily
  • Base maps update when new versions are released
  • Manual refresh: pull-to-refresh on Offline Data screen

Using offline maps

  • Automatic offline mode when no internet or region is downloaded.
  • In-flight use: maps, airspace, routes, obstacles, and terrain display instantly.
  • Route planning: add points, visualize routes, analyze terrain, calculate distances.

Limitations

  • Memory usage (50–950 MB per region)
  • Airspace and weather need periodic updates
  • Regions must be downloaded in advance
  • Weather forecasts have time limitations

Download only needed regions. Remove unused regions periodically. Disable unnecessary data types. Keep 1–2 GB free. For smaller devices (<32 GB), limit regions and disable weather. Use Wi-Fi for downloads.

Troubleshooting

  • Data won’t download: Check internet, storage, retry
  • Maps display incorrectly: Verify data, restart app if needed
  • Weather issues: Ensure integration and active layers, try alternative sources
  • Slow performance: Reduce loaded regions, restart app/device
  • Missing airfield or waypoint: Check region download and module sync, add manually if necessary
